Landscapes

Philip Govedare’s paintings are amazing.  Large landscapes.  Really beautiful.  Check out his whole gallery.

May the Geek be with you?

over 250 blueprints of the ship, Jabba the Hut’s palace, and more.  336 pages and 500 photos.  Wow.  This is the kinda stuff that gets our heads scratching at maZINEry.  Blueprints for stuff that doesn’t really exist?  Yet it’s pretty darn cool and, we’re sure, is catnip for fans.  Well done.  We think.  See more here.

Steve Jobs and his many patents

Great piece in the NYTimes about Steve Jobs’ many, many patents.  313, to be exact with his name on it.

Shout out to our neighbors

We’ve probably passed the guys from Heads of State a million times on our street (3rd St.) and didn’t know who they were.  But we’ve loved their work for years.  They got a great post in Printeresting for their work on the anniversary of the Civil War, “An imperfect union.”  Nice stuff guys.

Absolut-ly cool

Designer (firm?) Jorn took a stab at what certain products would look like as milk cartons.  Not sure why, except to make something very cool.  Check ’em at his (their?) site.

Chris Sembrot

The bad news?  Our good buddy, photographer Chris Sembrot is moving from Philly to outside of NYC.  The good news? He’s even a bit closer to some of our clients … and shooting our next job in two weeks.  Yay!  He has a ton of different styles.  Check em at his website.  Adios brother.

Less is more

We’re so digging these minimalist movie posters from Patrik Svensson.  See the whole series on his site, Prince Hat.

How fitting

Gotta buy a few of these for the team at Machinery.  While we’re still sorta small, that is.  Great t-shirts over at Aesthetic Apparatus.

Lucian Freud

Sad to say Lucian Freud has died at 88.  He was the grandson of Sigmund and will go down as one of finest painters of his generation.    There’s a nice article about him in the Gardian UK here.

Abandoned cooling tower

Who knew?  So scary.  So awesome.  Check out these photos by Richard Gubbels here.
