Have toy dinosaurs, will travel.

PIC BY JORGE SAENZ / CATERS NEWS - (Pictured: Jorge Saenzs toy dinosaurs in Peru) These incredible images may look like a scene from The Land Before Time, but they are actually created using TOY DINOSAURS. Professional photographer Jorge Saenz began the inventive series as a fun side project to his regular job. On his travels, Jorge has snapped the dinosaurs in countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru and Paraguay. Some of the scenes, such as those atop of mist-covered mountain ranges, look as though they were taken 100 million years ago. - SEE CATERS COPY

Photographer Jorge Saenz brings toy dinosaurs with him on vacation. (hey, who doesn’t?)  Of course, he makes it look like time travel.  Kudos!  See more here, via Colossal!

Shine on.

The Shining is required for all Machinists.  So we wanted to share some cool, soon-to-be-released figures from Evil Genius.   You can see them — and more amazing Shining stuff — at website The Overlook Hotel.  Enjoy!

Freaky presidential graveyard.

prez-5 prez-3

Not getting too political here.  (Though the timing is spot-on.)  After Presidents Park Museum in VA went belly-up, many of the heads, weighing 7,000 pounds, were moved to a field and sit deteriorating.  Much like our political parties.  (See, told you it was timely.)  You can see more of these eerie busts here via Colossal.

Nature, framed

Artist Myoung Ho Lee from South Korea, places nature in front of huge canvases.  Sort of still lifes in nature.  Check out a bunch of them here.

Paint us impressed.

kimkeever_art-02

There’s something so soothing about NASA engineer, turned artist, Kim Keever’s work.  He drops paint into a large fish tank and photographs what happens, which is impossible to predict or control.  He never knows what’s going to happen.  Check out more of his amazing photos here.

We’re flipping over this iceberg

Alex-Cornell-Antarctica-e1435421008309

While on a trip to Antarctica, photographer Alex Cornell photographed the very rare occurrence —  an iceberg flipped over.   While 90% of an iceberg is typically underwater, they do flip, but it’s rare.  The underside is free of snow and ice and is awesomely amazing.  See his photographs here.

A little cold for your warm December

shackleton-1

Having fond memories of having to read the Shackleton book for a RedTettemer retreat back in the day.   Recently, the Royal Geographic Society has released stunning photographs from Frank Hurley who documented the crew’s 17-month Artic survival.  See the amazing photos here.
